After a difficult week on the lures, it was time for a change of pace on Sunday, with the latest club match. The original plan was to fish Talacre for smoothhound, thornbacks and dabs but sadly, the forecast for heavy showers and winds gusting to almost 40mph forced us to come up with a new venue . As everyone had already sported out a supply of peeler for the hounds it couldn't go to waste, so we decided to fish Mostyn instead.

Conditions when we arrived were surprisingly good, with no sign of the showers and with the high embankment shielding us from the worst of the winds, and having seen a recent report of a decent catch of rays, hopes were high for some decent sport :).

Unfortunately, we were to be disappointed and fish were for the most part very difficult to come by .

After 4 hours of fishing, the winner was Kenny the local expert, with a bag of 3 plaice for a weight of 1.75kg ?.

In second place, with a solitary thornback caught 20 minutes from the end of the match was Ady on 1.70kg ?.

In third place was yours truly, with 2 plaice for 1.42kg, the best of which was a new PB of 0.85kg ?,

and in fourth place was Glyn with a single plaice of 0.53kg.

Sadly the other 4 lads all blanked ?.

So the change of venue wasn't exactly a resounding success, but it could have been worse, as at least we didn't have to endure 4 hours of being sandblasted ?.
