With another 5 guys had a charter out of Hartlepool on Friday, sea a bit lumpy but easily fishable , each angler experienced and hoping for good things.
Short answer is that apart from small whitings things were dire, I had a small Ling which was biggest fish of the day.
We tried Shads, Bait, Pirks, but the only method that worked at all was bait presented on daylights or similar.

Another charter was out at the same time and they did worse than we did ?.

Talking to the crewman, he mentioned that there have been several “ factory” trawlers from Russia and the Netherlands scouring the area recently, towing cod ends that were huge, and wrecking the seabed habitat, I am wondering if that could be a factor in the absence of fish, when at this time of year we normally do OK?
I could not fault the skipper as he worked hard , covering a variety of ground searching , but there was nothing.
