Good guy on eBay.

It's not a wobbegong, looks like angel shark (squatina squatina) to me? Also known as a monk fish in some circles? Give us a clue then Cfish....

I'm surprised Si hasn't got back to this & enlightened us!

Having had another look, it does look more like an Angel Shark - the Wobbegong has got more 'frilly' bits across the Jawline. Similar images of Angel Sharks on Google:

Wikipedia also says the Angel Shark is also known as a "Munkfish".

Afraid I'm just on WiFi, and only got back in at 3am last night. It's an Angel, purely by-catch as they are protected.

Dead last night on a popular deep water rock mk.....small tides to blame I'm guessing, but our only opportunity looking at the forecast wind!PXL_20230315_191329216~2.jpg

Blank tonight for me, mate had a nice 59lb butterfly ray 😍

Lost some monstrous rays last night, and found out it's best not to hook 2 at once while your mate is already playing a 150lber....it didn't end well 😢
I had to put one rod in the tripod with a tight drag and grip with knees while playing the 2nd....just hoping mate could get his in and release it , then grab his other rod which I was kneeling on.

However the ray just stripped 150y before the drag got so tight the line finally went off like a gunshot !...we did get the other 2 in though luckily.

I did in the end manage a 2nd 200lb fish at 233lb a new PB 😃PXL_20230318_231040774~2.jpg

WOW Si! Well done on the PB - that's some huge Fish! 🎣🎣👍👍

Doesn’t look like 500lb of fish..🙄
Unfortunately I have no idea if there are any pics worth putting up of the stingers, the spot is steep boulders so it's near impossible in swelly conditions to get any sort of pic showing size of the fish ☹️
I have taken some vid of my mate playing his fish in the water.... hopefully I can get some screen grabs, but there is nothing for scale really .......it's a shame but best just to get both of you unhooking and getting the fish back.
We tried to get a stinger on a diff mk last night for a proper pic, but we were only lucky enough to get the lovely butterfly.

Ps....mate did take some pics on his camera, so when home will look on the PC....maybe a chance of something there.
