When i was a kid fishing with my father he would never fish where there were no worm casts showing.Alot of marks only fish well in certain conditions try and fish a mark in different conditions, times, tides and if you catch remember what it was like.
I foul hooked the only ray i have ever caught with a redgill about 50 yards out, thought i dad hooked a rope tied to seabed, but when mowed further to side to see if would come loose felt a strange couple of tugs on line, rod bent and pressure on and of and moving slightly finally landed, hooked it on back right where tail joined. If I wanted ray, more distance would be necessary but even then we get them on our surf beaches at 40-80 yards.
Works some beaches yes but others like ours or chisel there’s no difference no features at all but being able to acces navonics so easily has become a game changer IMO especially with the likes of chisel ???Lots of good advice above. The only thing this non-expert can add is sometimes it pays to spend a bit of time if it is a regular mark and recce the beach over a low spring tide to see where the features are.
