What is a good fluorocarbon leader to use in 30/ 40/50 lb

Looking for a good compromise of ease of tying / abrasion resistance/supple/memory (lack thereof)

Why do you want/need fluorocarbon leader ?
Do you have any suggestions for a good brand of fluorocarbon in that pound range ?

Fluorocarbon is generally more abrasion resistant and less easy to see in clear water than mono.

Have been told this is the Bee's Knees
Has some special plasma coating on it... supposedly to make it easier to tie knots

My suggestion is it is overrated and designed to catch lads that try to over think things

Really ? You don't think there is a use for fluorocarbon. Even though it is used by many very serious fishermen all over the world.
Or you mean in UK waters ?

I have used it for bass fishing with lures, and haven't seen any measurable advantage, but if you think it would make a differenc go for it.. You probably use two rods like most of us off the shore, why don't you do a comparison over a season and get back to us on your results.

I've used fluorocarbon a lot in both coarse and trout fishing but would never use it in sea fishing. It is too stiff and the slightest nick can see it part with little warning. On a river or reservoir where I am fishing over a silt bottom or even high up in the water I am perfectly happy to use it when conditions dictate, but on the sea bed I would never trust it not to get damaged. Maybe if I was trolling a lure or similar, (I never do that sort of fishing) but fishing off a beach? No, not ever!

What type of fishing are we talking here? Beachcasting or Lure Fishing??

For Beachcasting, a leader strength of 30 to 50Lb would be innappropiate unless fishing really light. Employing the accepted rule that you need a leader of the same Lb strength +10, as the oz of weight & bait you are casting, what you are suggesting would be too light.
For a 5oz lead say, you would need a leader of at least 60Lb. I use either 60 or 70Lb mono leaders, and use the same line for rig bodies.

For lure fishing, I have sometimes used Fluoro rubbing leaders, but 15 to 20Lb would be adequate.
I don't subscribe to this old wives tale that Fluoro is less visible, so you are going to catch more fish, especially when using it for Beachcasting where the Fluoro is nowhere near your end tackle & bait.

I didnt describe it properly.. my bad... not the leader I meant the snood to present bait more stealthily

There are a few areas where FC may have an edge - it sinks readily, has less stretch and is stiffer than standard nylon, is potentially less visible though its very shiny and can reflect light if not treated with fullers earth paste (hats off Flappy😉) and is not affected by sunlight(UV) degradation meaning any you loose will remain as a strand in the sea almost indefinitely!
Have a look at the YouTube comparison by the SaltStrong boys - their tests put ordinary nylon in top spot by quite a margin.....and they are tackle junky Americans 😉

I have never heard of using fullers or anything to take shine of FC.. interesting

A stiffish paste of fullers earth mixed with washing up liquid aka dish detergent in the USA. Sold commercially as Leadersink, Mud etc. Used predominantly by fly anglers it's mildly abrasive, absorbent and removes any form of grease from the surface of monofilaments like nylon and FC which then gets them to break through the meniscus quicker

An old fly fishing trick from when gut line was used, also helps mono to sink.
I use Amnesia for leaders/snoods down to 10lb but ultima mono below 10lb.
