I tried it but found the hook can get stuck at the wrong angle sometimes causing missed fishHas anyone tried this method instead of the perfection loop for attaching the hook to a dongle rig the guy off vmo says it works any body else's thoughts would be great
I think if the eye of the hook was the other way then I think it would work betterI tried it but found the hook can get stuck at the wrong angle sometimes causing missed fishSo I've gone back to a loop
Give it a whirl am sure some will adopt the method.Has anyone tried this method instead of the perfection loop for attaching the hook to a dongle rig the guy off vmo says it works any body else's thoughts would be great
I thought that also to start with but I think it would still cause the same problem. The eye sometimes travels up the side of the clip and locks in wrong position and stops the free movement of the hookI think if the eye of the hook was the other way then I think it would work better![]()
I was thinking the same thing - because the Breakaway links (i love them) have too much structure to them - you need something clean and simple. Some circle hooks come from factory with a small welded ring on them so methinks a very small split ring would be better ??
Will it weaken the hook heating it up ?This got me thinking... so I just made my own.. had a #5 Owner circle hook.. heated eye slightly.. opened it a put a small welded ring in from an assist hook of a jig and closed it up.. voila.. ring hook..![]()
Use a swivel or if not wanting to heat the hook use a split ring. This got me thinking... so I just made my own.. had a #5 Owner circle hook.. heated eye slightly.. opened it a put a small welded ring in from an assist hook of a jig and closed it up.. voila.. ring hook..![]()

Interesting.. but not for toothy critters tho..Or some form of coated braid hook length.. they have been using this rig some years in the carp fishing world.
That am not sure..Will it weaken the hook heating it up ?
Never seen this stuff before..![]()
