Got one rod out and setting other one up, first one was away! Nothing big,it was like that for the twenty minutes, so left rod out to set other one up! Pellets and bread crumbs on the method feeder, bomb and pellet on other. Packed up when started raining.
Here's some pics.View attachment 73929
It's time you taught him how to pull for a break with a straight rod. Other than that a nice report and pics.snap the tip eye off his rod again…
You know how it is mate, you can take a horse to water etc etc lol! It's time you taught him how to pull for a break with a straight rod. Other than that a nice report and pics.
Great report and photosHaving spent the last few nights trundling around Kent and Sussex in my trusty ambulance, I was asked by wifey if I wanted to get the rods out last night, as she needed to look after the nieces and nephews which meant that there was no room at the inn for the boy and I. So I reluctantly agreed and after a whole 2.5hrs sleep post night shift, I got up, rolled some bait, packed the car with gear, food, bait and child, before setting off to Zombie sheep lake for a quick and cold overnighter.
By the time we arrived, the sun was gone and the lake was in darkness. I quickly unloaded the car, loaded up the two barrows and made our way around to what has become my sons favourite swim, a quick glance in the car park showed we had the lake to ourselves.
Now, if you read my last report, you’ll know that when we went to set up, we discovered my son had snapped his tip on his carp rod, so we had been extra careful this time round! My boy had a ranging cast at the island in the dark and managed to hit the damn thing! On pulling back he managed… View attachment 75643to snap the tip eye off his rod again… (pic taken this morning)
A quick switch around to my spare rods (that I remembered to bring this time!) and we were back in business! View attachment 75644With both his rods fished towards the island with pva bags, I soon got my rods sorted and whacked out to my usual hot spot - fortunately, I hadn’t taken the marker elastic off the rods from last time, so casting out was academic. View attachment 75645With the rods out, the camps were set up and soon the kettle was boiling and the bacon sizzling in the pan.
The temp was around 3c, the night still, calm and cold and I felt one of us should have some action, but when the sun reappeared the following morning, nothing had occurred. I had even got up and recast at 3am to freshen up the spots, but nothing wanted our pva bags.
I was woken by 3 friendly and hungry geese at dawn, so sat up feeding them pellets and drinking tea, when I saw a carp just pop his head out tight to the island in my boys swim. A quick lucky 7 bait stringer was made up and dropped on its head. With that, the boy and I had another cup of tea while watching the water.
Suddenly, the stringer rod pulled up tight and my son leapt into action!
