Chinese circle hooks.

They did but particularly towards the end of UK production they also made some absolute crap! They looked good in the packet but would not pass the tying vice testing 'flick' - over tempered that snaped clen off at the barb or seemingly completely untempered that bent like liquorice.
That was because they were trying (in vain) to compete with cheap foreign imports .. an impossible task given the comparable labour rates. They did however, as I said make some of the best hooks going in their prime. I still have a good number of the Breakaway Spearpoints that Partridge made ... an absolutely fantastic hook that held its point really well.

This on the beeb made me laugh (have to get your story in quick otherwise you'll miss out on being a victim) ....

Lisa, not her real name, worked on the BBC show Eat Well For Less in 2015.
She described an incident when, she says, he "touched [her] inappropriately" when they were filming in a supermarket.
"He brushed past me at the checkout, and touched my bum with his waist and penis and laughed and said “oooh you liked that didn’t you, would you like to stick some Chinese circle hooks in my knob end tonight?”

"It was the way he reacted, other people would’ve said “oh I’m sorry can I squeeze by” which would’ve been ok."
Suspect he could be a strange fellow and purveyor of hooks😂👍

Partridge fly hooks ended up being total junk, far too brittle. I ended up using Mustads or Kamasan. If you find a good hook then buy a lot of them. The fault lies with those companies who moved their production to the Far East to maximise profits without making sure good quality control was in place. I buy all my lure hooks from Ali or AGM and never had a problem. The Chinese have copied rods, reels, lure etc now watch them innovate. Unfortunately the Japanese version of Ali has gone along with their cheap postage.
