Having not fished with my dad for nearly 2 years (thanks covid) we hatched a plan to fish Chesil. We were due to fish ferrybridge, but decided to head elsewhere on the big beach. We arrived 10am-ish to a flat, slightly coloured sea, not ideal as I was expecting more swell and more colour.
Bites came thick and fast from the off, I had sizeable whiting, my dad had tiny tings & pout. Not a great start really as I wanted my dad to have a decent session and bag up.
I soon swapped tactics and went for the rays (standard) my dad plugged away on worm and the fish started to get bigger.
My other half came down with my boy, who brought luck to my dad, he bagged a PB shore whiting at 1lb 12oz followed by another 3 keepers. My squid baits were coming back untouched, result as I could leave them out and wait.
Soon the pests came on the feed, dog after dog after dog, joys of ray fishing hey……..
Darkness fell and the bites dried up which was surprising, I had a couple of dogs and dad had a few pin whiting.
We called it a day at 7ish making the long walk back to the car.
An enjoyable session on the beach, nothing spectacular fish wise, but a busy session.
Few pic’s of the day below
