£7.50 for 8000 size reel?

My budget beach adventure continues, the Leeda 12ft (£16.30) and the Rovex Powerspin (£7.50) sent a 4oz lead about 90 yds into the field with a gentle overhead thump, no bait, as I didn't want to catch any grass carp lol. Other than the lead burying itself about 6 inches,it all went very well. So far, I'm impressed, for how long who knows?

I've still got my old Shakespeare in2 beach caster if I had a pound for every fish I've caught on it with a Mitchell fs66 reel I could buy ten ziplexes etc etc

@Trampster Ha ha. I’m going to have to mess about with the drag, it’s not that smooth would you believe for such an expensive reel. ?
For a small expense, it might be worth trying to source some Carbon drag washers for it. I think Blakdog tackle have got a fair selection. I looked this morning and the reels are still on offer, would be tempted to try one myself, but already have enough reels to set up a shop. Wifey would kill me - she's convinced that you only need 1 reel & 1 rod for all types of fishing!:unsure:

Definitely go for it, Devon can't be left out again?

Well done, did you dial in for cod? Otherwise the technically advanced drag system won't know what setting to use, otherwise I'm baffled

Yep, it was in the ‘smash and run’ setting. Looked like a big un had taken then bait the way the rod tip was going.

The smash and grab setting works by letting your arms have a rest intermittently, on off on on on off off etc, I'm going for the seaweed setting. If you're only used to Daiwa,Shimano etc, it will take a while to learn the intricacies of this superb reel.?

A load of cheap skates , penny wise and pound foolish LOL.
Expensive rods are wasted on me, one thing is my casting but more importantly I would scat them down the rocks or tread on them with my size twelve clumsy yellow wellys!!!

When I tread on a rod I cheer myself up by remembering how little I paid for it and then look forward to buying another cheapie rod ?
