£7.50 for 8000 size reel?

They've still got 10+ for sale. Half tempted to buy a bunch and put them on Gumtree for £15 each! ???

Just received the reel, you can swap the handle, overall it's not bad, the handle retaining knob is a nice gaudy gold plastic, a lot of it is 9 carat gold or similar heavy metal, it's quite heavy, so if you do dunk it you will need a heavy lifting rig to reclaim it from the seabed:giggle:
Cheers, I decided to get one which arrived today. Assembled as a left hander and as you say it’s a heavy beast - can double up as an anchor on the kayak. I’ll give it a try from the shore tomorrow, seems to wind line on level and spins nicely for the princely sum of £7.50. Even if I don’t catch owt tomorrow I’ll come back with some muscles.

I've got a field next to our back lane, tried casting with my uptide rod using a tennis ball, other than confirming my neighbour's suspicions regarding my mental health,it was ok, and the line lay seemed fine. Another blank though!???. Unless I can get my tennis ball recognised as an unknown species??

I agree, it's true you get what you pay for, and good luck to more serious anglers who want the best they can afford. For me cheap and cheerful is the way to go, my age and health has restrictions for this hobby.
Same here - I agree. Bought a new beach rod 2 years ago and decided I wanted a Penn Surfblaster to go with it. Couldn't get one new due to the Covid problems - everywhere out of stock, and then a few weeks later, one popped up locally 2nd hand for £30! Just the job! ??

It’s an age thing where you’re no longer bothered about having to have the best brands of stuff. ?
It's also related to the state of the bank balance! ?? If you're ill, or retired, not so much dosh coming in.

Well I have been so impressed with my Scrooge like purchase, I have purchased a three piece 12ft Leeda beachcaster for £16.30, collecting locally on Tuesday. It will be transportable, and will allow me to lay on a sun kissed Cornish beach in late January watching a stationary rod tip. I have calculated the equipment should outlast the onset of hypothermia.

To be fair I have been buying reasonable gear this time but in sales if I have been able to.

Still have the shakespeare patriot beachcaster and a gifted glass rod from last time and the ryobi fixed spools, can't remember what they were though?
