You never know there might be some tuna around as well as the dolphins.

If there was any fish about they would of been on the beach the dolphins were that close

walking the dog this morning over beach checking it out was going to have a few hours later to pass the time walked from golf course to crimdon rocks for the time of year not seen so many dolphins must of been literally 100s full length of beach I walked and they just kept passing some clearing the water in spectacular fashion that lot are going to take some feeding was some big pods about last summer chasing the mackerel first time I've seen them in this sort of numbersView attachment 6647View attachment 6648
They don't count towards species hunt.

We have had a few big pods wander into Brixham harbour, got a say ive not notice catches drop when they have been around, great to watch them just playing around and having fun ,lucky buggers.

It's the seals which cause more problems than the dolphins.
Yeah agree with that, tho the last trip I had some seals near me they didnt bother chasing anything I was bringing in, must have been full from the previous anglers fish:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Last time I encountered them was in 2012 at Victoria Harbour on Vancouver Island. They nicked every fish I hooked into and left me the heads to reel in. Bar stewards :cautious:

Least they left you with something to bring in :ROFLMAO: , the buggers down here take the whole fish, clever buggers
Pacific pollock aren't that nice to eat, the cod and halibut is good though.

If I’m mackerel fishing in the summer, it’s usually encouraging to see them as you know they’ll be chasing the mackerel and a cast near (but not TOO near! ?) usually results in a few mackies...

Thankfully although we have plenty of seals, they’re spread out and not hanging out at the fishing spots like they do in Torbay.

But I never begrudge seeing them. At the end of the day we’re intruding on their habitat and I can’t really blame them for eating fish as they’re meant to. On the odd occasion when they have become a bit too interested, I’ll just move somewhere else...

Years ago before the herring were fished out there used to be a tunny fishery around Whitby and Scarborough.
I think it was the victorians made it popular, there’s still the odd big ‘un that gets caught now?
