Banax sx 5000 reel

Hello! Please advise on the fishing reel. I have a Banax SX 5000 fishing reel in perfect condition. Never used. Inherited. Is it suitable for surf beach fishing, feeder fishing on the river? Or should I buy a modern model?

Never heard of it, but looking at a picture it's an older shape with quite a short, deep, spool,
Modern fixed spool reels tend to have a longer but shallower spool which moves in/out with a longer 'throw' which is much better when using thin braid line as each lay of line has more angle to the previous layer.
Could you use it ? well yes you could, but if you use braid line then the newer design will be much better & cast further.

Thank you It will probably be well suited for vertical fishing from a boat or trolling where you don’t need to make a long cast.

You could probably make do with that reel, but a newer reel would give you better Surfcasting ability. A 5000 size reel is a bit small for Surfcasting. 7000 or 8000 would be better, with a long cast spool.

Thanks! Yes, I'm already thinking of buying modern fishing reels. What about TICA fishing reels? Models such as: Tica Titan T14000; TICA Scepter GTB 9000; TICA Giant G14000? Or would you recommend fishing reels that would fit. My budget is 150 euros for a maximum of one piece. I need two pieces.

I'd never heard of the Banax reel you first mentioned, or TICA. They aren't brands available in the UK as far as I know, so we can't really advise on the brands available in your locality.
