Purchased this mint HSM the other day, the seller even hand delivered it for me today. Absolutely mint condition, Summerlands built. £300 delivered.(y)

That's why I am after a second one. ;)

Summerlands, that would be a C Dance build then?

Excellent blanks, right up my street for fishing at range. I hope you find its twin somewhere Ian👍For £300 you've done well imo.

I've got to say I dont know why folk put a premium on a Chris Dance build (apart from trying to get more money of course)? As good as his work is, a well built rod is a well built rod, irrespective of the builder. There are a good number of UK rod builders like Rossco, Stan P etc etc that all build to top class levels yet their work doesn't carry such cache

Agree to a degree but back when many of these old zziplex were current models there weren't many building beach rods to his standard. Different now and I actually think if you want something built different to his normal builds others are better and often cheaper. Personally if I were buying a new current zziplex or century it would be a factory build as they are very nicely built to a good spec and easily replaced if damaged with a long wait .

Rossco is pretty good (being my apprentice There are a good number of UK rod builders like Rossco, Stan P etc etc that all build to top class levels yet their work doesn't carry such cache

Rossco is pretty good as he had a good tutor :):) When it comes to beach rods, Stan Parkin is the master

Gary Allner built all of my zzipies, superb rod finisher. And has the trophies to go with it. (y)

There are some excellent UK builders, the recent work shown by Rossco puts him on the A list imo. In my personal opinion many don't/can't charge real world hourly rates for their time so you can get fancy decorative wraps, bell n whistles etc (IF that's your thing) for not a lot of money.

But Ross won`t touch cork or anything freshwater.. I built his fly rod.

Start to look at the number that can build beach, carp, pike, trout fly, salmon fly, tench, boat, up-tide, stand up, trolling and then for good measure saltwater fly and specialist for tarpon and then down the scale to 2# nymph. :):):)

The Chinese can do all of them..👍

My search has ended for a second HSM, got this one today. Even has an original zziplex bag. (y)

I now have my pair of HSM's.. :)
