South Coast Widewater plaice (shoreham)

Had a go at widewater far end just pass the beach huts today and with a cold north east wind the shelter was required so armed with fresh blacks and with up & overs on both rods and hoping for a plaice or two. So let the waiting game begin so I waited 3 hours for the first bite which resulted in a 37cm plaice target achieved. i didn’t have to wait long for the next take another plaice 33cm I fished on for another 2 hours down but that was it no more bites so with the sun going down it was time to pack up.

Nice to see someone actually catching fish in the area.
I have heard that over recent months the catches have been poor.
Even my mate on his boat have struggled with anything decent.

I used to take my boat and fish near the end (25yds)for pollack & bass, don't fish it when it's discharging though horrible stinky milky stuff being pumped out.

Used to be lobsters and crabs hiding underneath the sides of the pipe.

Yes behind the station and up a bit.

Freelining baited with shrimps/prawns or sandeels is a good way for catching the bass. Rats, now the secret is out.

By the old cement works then, it's about 2 miles up a bit
