I have managed to get first dibs on one of these at €149 which is about £130 did a bit of searching and it seems to get decent reviews worthwhile taking a punt? The normal price is much more than that going by online search's. I am new to surf casting so I want a decent rod but I am not going to spend too much.

Beach is that a thumbs up to buy? It is a new rod by the way not second hand.

I've got a 4.5 metre Vertix Jack that I bought new in an eBay auction and I'm very pleased with it. RRP at the time was £299, and I won it for around £57! Not heard of the Vertix Inspire, but there are an awful lot of different Vertix models. They seem to be good rods, but they were made by Grauvell based in Spain, and as I understand it, Grauvell have gone bust, so there have been a few bargains about because dealers are offloading the last of their stocks.

Retail on this rod is said to be €260 . While I like a bargain... and who doesn't? I was trying to find a rod that might be a decent buy because there are so many rods available. For someone like myself who is totally inexperienced the only thing that varies is the cost because normally you get what you pay for. I had set out a max of €150 and this seems to fit the bill. This rod is available on a very much reduced price... I like that:)
I read a review on a British fishing site that gave the Inspire a thumbs up but that particular model was a 4.2m rod this one is 4.5m. I am not looking to cast to America I just want a decent rod I can fish with that won't fall to bits?

I wouldn't have thought the extra foot will make a lot of difference.

Did you buy it jambop?

Yes and although I am no expert is is a lovely looking rod vivid yellow in colour with a really deep lustre finish and the rings are well beautiful is the word. I cannot wait to give it a thrash, but I will have to it is baltic down here at the moment?

Sounds good! ?? I'm pretty sure my Vertix Jack is fitted with Fuji rings and reel seat - excellent quality.

Well I am starting out with a Daiwa 7 ht multi when I get the bearing issue sorted out. I know that most use fixed spool reels now but surely the multi is proper beach casting  . If I find that I can't get on with it then my plan B is a Yuki surf 8000 loaded with Braid using a 75 or 100g of lead apparently any twat can cast 75 to 100m

I have heard very good things about Vertix rods, like you I prefer Multies for beach casting. Let us know how you get on with it when things allow.

Don
Well I will bow to Mr Holdens vastly greater knowledge than mine, but there must be some reason there are more eyes on a multi blank than fs blank?
I don't doubt it but his advice is that for someone who is fishing using a multi rod with a fixed spool reel and vice versa will make very little difference to the cast performance. I think that he was saying that cast a bait is not casting at a tournament were a few cm make the difference. I am not going to argue as I don't have the experience.

I think I remember reading somewhere that it is OK to put a multiplier on a rod rung for F/S, but not advisable to do it the other way around, as the rod rings on a multiplier rod are not set up to cope with the loops coming off a F/S reel?
