Tilapia for bait???

Decided that tilapia wasn't going to help me at Scarborough so ended up going to my local pond.
Caught 3 bream and the world's smallest roach.
Spent the entire day wishing I was at the beach and planning my next trip to the coast 😁
Have you got any Chinese supermarkets nearby?
They often do squid and bluey (pacific saury) too.

Or Thai or Filipino stores albeit these are a bit harder to locate
We haven’t even got a Chinese supermarket so no chance on the others, but a handy source of bait if anyone has one near them.

I was in our local Chinese store today replenishing our rice stocks and getting some chicken feet ….yes Chicken feet and whilst looking came across a 1kg box of “Frozen Soft bodied crabs” but at £29 a box I thought I would give it a miss. Couldn’t even see inside the box to make an informed decision

Yep that sounds a bit high! Probably worth it if they worked well for hounds or wrasse but ideally you’d want to buy a handful and see how they went first.

Chinese.. Indians.Thai.. etc.. ?
They work in the takeaway.. never anywhere else up here.
In fact.. as races they are invisible

Evening folks

Got chance of a last minute escape.to NE coast tomorrow, but didn't have time to get properly sorted for bait, especially mackerel!
The wife was at the supermarket and I rang he to get some mackerel, she asked if I preferred smoked or with chilli, I said it was for fishing and raw would be best!
No fresh mackerel there.
So, I dashed out to Morrison's tonight, but all they had was TILAPIA.
I've eaten it before and it's alright, but I'm not a hungry cod or a greedy whiting.
My question is...
Has anyone in the history of sea angling ever used tilapia (& caught on it?)
I hear it is good for catfish, but I don't think there are many of them near Scarborough!
If it is a non starter, I'll just go coarse fishing (& get prepared better for next time).
Gutted as I did have a freezer full of mackerel until it went on the blink and defrosted.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated 👍
Cheers
Johnny

P.S. Tight lines to you if you are fishing this weekend :)
If you are really stuck, then Tesco raw king prawn definitely works, and it is all I use for Plaice in the summer, and the grandkids use pieces of it for LRF all year round, and it catches all sorts.

Morrisons often have small plastic boxes of raw prawn, Razors, and Squid rings, they all work well. I also know of anglers that often use cooked prawn ?('pinks') and that also seems to work ok.

Just to pee you off, we catch Mackerel here pretty much all year, so bait here isn't an issue. I probably have 200 mack in the bait freezer.
