OK, so I had a pair of Thigh Waders many years ago, but gave them to a mate when I became a city dweller (😥😥)

Decided last year to buy a pair of (quite expensive) Dunlop Wellies, but didn't give a thought to the fact that, having had one Hip replaced, I don't have the flexibility to get both hands down around my foot to pull them on. Tried & failed.

So now wondering about a pair of Thigh Waders again, that I might be able to wriggle my foot & lower leg into before grabbing them to pull them up.
I'm a great believer in taking a big bucket with me when fishing, to put fish in to recover, washing hands, and rinsing Fish being kept for the Table, but have got my feet wet so many times trying to fill the bucket, I need a solution!

Any recommendations for a decent pair of thigh waders chaps, preferably not too expensive? TIA.

Tbh Dave as you’re not usually out every week, I don’t think you need to be too particular about waders and my experience with chesties is the £100 ones wear out just as quick as the £50 ones.
Although they did get a lot of use, at least back when I was getting through quite a few pairs of waders!

Not looked at the Vikings so they may indeed be in that category, but my suggestion would be get something around the £50 mark.
Budget but not bottom of the barrel budget.

If you’ve got a shop where you could try some on, that’s always a help - I’ve found some waders need a shoe size up, some don’t.

I’ve currently got a cheapish pair of Vass PVC chesties that I expected to last about two years but they’ve gone on far longer, albeit they perhaps haven’t had quite as much use as earlier pairs.

Probably these would do you so Topwater was on the money!

Mr Mrs has some of those in a black shiney material that she wears when she visits her friends..... but beware it really messes up your hair and mascara and they seem to wear out on the knees real quick.

That's the sort of thing! Thanks for the link Meester Feesh! 👍👍

😂😂😂 I must admit I only ever buy chesties now, don’t really have a use for thigh waders (except in the dungeon) but I can see how they’d be handy for Tramps for pulling on and getting water in his bucket etc.

Oh dear, that all sounds positively deviant 🥺

You mentioned Vass - Vass Tex 600 with studs, worn once, £29.99 ? 🤔🤔

They look okay? Certainly would have cost more than that new I’d think?

I guess you probably don’t need studs though? Although I suppose wouldn’t matter if the studs wore out or not?

I don’t know what the pier etc where you fish is like but studs do struggle on very smooth surfaces, they need something to grip.

So ie very smooth concrete or wet wooden boards for example could be worse with studs. By smooth I mean slate smooth…

I wouldn't need Waders for the Pier & shore side marks around here. Ordinary shoes are fine.
If I need water, it's a case of chuck the bucket over the rail, remembering to tie the rope to the handle first!
The Waders would be more for shingle beach expeditions. I don't really need studs, but they are already fitted.

Ah I see, wasn’t sure if you had to climb down onto rocks from the pier.

In that case on the beach it doesn’t matter, of course, but at £30 I’d say they were quite a bit cheaper than brand new?

I had a look at the Vass site, and the Tex 600's are now discontinued, with a few newer versions on offer.
You can't buy direct from Vass anyway, and there are new ones on the bay of E for £47.99.

What about a pair of these Tramps....;)

Just leave the bit of string on the handle and use on the shingle as well....safer than going near the water if you're not very mobile 👍.......and save a few ££££
Fairly steady on me Pins Si, I just can't do the marks I used to due to getting so short of breath.
Fine going downhill but seriously struggle going back uphill.
Difficult to get much water into a bucket in shallow water.
Think I might fix a 4oz Lead to one edge of the rim to make it sink & fill better.

I was thinking of chesil type marks, I always hate going to the edge when rough, trying to get some water and not drown !! 🤬

Sorry to hear about the ticker bud.... hope it's not too bad 👍
Me? It's not the ticker Si, they supposedly fixed that back in December 2018, but ever since the Cardiac treatment, I've been getting really short of breath, and it's getting slowly worse. Can't climb about & lug gear around like i used to.
