Tried something different this morning, fished Abbotsbury starting at 2am until 9am high tide was 8am.
Lovely full moon illuminated the beach so rarely needed the headlight. I unfortunately completely blanked.

Dawn arrives and then over the bank the invasion begins, hoards of men in grey matching track suits with huge buckets ready to bag up on mackies, they jam themselves within 10 meters of everyone not ideal when your bottom fishing.
From the tranquillity of being in the fishing zone suddenly blown away with wayward tinsel crossing lines and shouting at each other in a language which could be only understood between them.

"Bugger this" time arrived, and over the bank to the lane I struggled, walking back to the car park there were cars were parked along the lane with number plates a lot different than mine!
So that's it for me fishing the middle bit of the big beach, I'll be looking at targeting lesser known spots.
Anyway, rant over.....actually, it's not really a rant I just feel sad and disappointed that people so disrespectful.I

I'm afraid guys it's only going to get worse, not to mention the rubbish that will start building up.

I could say, what do we expect, bloody foreigners, but I'm sure the Norwegian angler's say the same about the British, given the mess some marks are left in out there 🤬

Usually a walk will get you away from the worst of them but yes I sympathise!

I’d certainly avoid abbotsbury at weekends in summer and try and go week days if I do go.

I feel your pain and have experienced similar to yourself. I've not fished Abbotsbury for years and will probably never return. Once the mackerel arrive it's like fishing in a dump, full of human waste and stinking.

It needs a serious walk to get away from them, that’s for sure

Based on what you're all saying I get the impression overcrowding is a relatively recent thing? If so I wonder if YouTube etc have played a key part in making it a fishing hot spot for the south of England...

P.S. only fished it twice, on weekdays, and although it wasn't busy (~100m between rods) you could sense it would get absolutely rammed on weekends and Bank Holidays.

I normally walk for an hour past the teeth, but just the smell and sight of it depresses me, so sad to see. Last time I was greeted by a man of Asian decent having a poo right in the middle of the path. We went somewhere else instead. This started before the whole YouTube thing, it's commercial fishing gangs. They stay as long as the weather is good, leaving litter and mess. They take everything they catch, mackerel by the bin load. Generally mainly non English speaking, so you can't even make them clear up or explain about size limits.

A mate when I was in yarmouth told an eastern European the bass he was catching were undersized and it was illegal. They fish with feathers to get the schoolies. The guy used his phone 15 mins later four guys turn up and threaten him.

Not worth telling them for your own safety.

Why doesn’t that surprise me

Did any mackerel come out. I love fresh mackerel and a bit of bait for the freezer.

This is so depressing

It has got the same arounds Hope's nose & Berry head at Torbay. Foreigners who have been removing bin loads of fish, leaving a horrendous mess, and on some occasions, physically assaulting local anglers. I think they have now fenced parts of it off to prevent access.

IFCA are a waste of our taxes.

They really do fuck all.

We need proper wardens like in the states.

The IFCA in Cornwall are a joke from what I have read. A lot of the commitee are commercial fishermen, a blind eye is being turned on illegal netting, and bycatch landing rules are being ignored. Boils my piss.

Perhaps the proceeds from a sea fishing license could be used to fund proper wardens?

But who would want the job? Probably only someone as corrupt as our current Politicians.

Because It would take several van loads of police to enforce anything.
More like at certain times of the year several coaches with numerous dog handlers, plus police helicopter all on permanent standby with a fleet of atv vehicles some with custom cages to get things moving. Fish lives matter.👍🐟
I had a dream!😂.
