So thought I’d give branscome ago tonight up on the rough ground targeting wrasse and Huss 80lb braid straight thru and rotten bottem rigs where the order of the day altho there’s a patch of sand in amongst the snotty stuff the fish are still likely to drag you in the rough . The weather was stunning flat calm clear seas and the temp wasn’t to bad either first cast with rag resulted in a dogfish then I was getting small Erratic bites but missing them eventually resulting in this little fella not the target but first one for me and good for the hunt I text @bananas to confirm it was a tompot blenny then I found me target a Beautifully goldfish coloured wrasse night fell and out went the big baits arfter me big Huss a steady stream of dogs and small Huss started to come in I then found the sardine I caught at brixam last week and put he out bound to get me a first class fishand sure enough ten mins later a decent bite got me all excited and I reeled in some decent weight unfortunately a 3lb strap was not my desired target ???Wasted ? so I flicked out the head and guts of a Mac and a cracking bite and scrap resulted in my target of a beefy old Huss st 5lb6oz and altho they get A lot bigger round here I was happy with this angry bastard arfter I put him back I watched him swim around in the crystal clear water full a few mins till him swam back out to sea . A few more small Huss and hefty dogs followed until me last cast resulted in a 4lb 4 oz strap again not huge but nice way to end the night so That was the end of my session really enjoyed it weather was banging busy on the fish front and a nice new species. Spoke to a couple of lads on the way back and they hadn’t had a thing and me mate fishing the samilite up abbotsbury said it was dead quiet so it seems I made the right choice . Out ona boat from minehead wensday cod rays and spurs are the target then off beer on Sunday on a boat comp cheers ma butes
