Hi gents, I was joined by Paul, AKA Bluebeird again today as we went to give the spring surf a try.
Data
Saturday 09/3/2025
Fishing time- . 7.15 am to 11.30 am
Tide.- high water 13.00 pm 10.0 meters
Wind- East South East 12/ 25mph
Air Pressure.- 1005 mb
Surf conditions - height, 1ft, with 7/8 Tables Stretching out - 200 meters
General conditions.- Clear sky with a few grey cloud's
Bait- Lug, King Rag, and Razor
Tackle set up- Century paired with a Penn Fathom
and a Blackrock Foosa with a 7000 fixed spool, Paul opted for a pair of conti's paired with fisxed spools.
End tackle - 3 and 4 oz weights, flappers, with 2/0 hooks on both rods. Paul one one down with long snoods.
I'm not always as aware of the beauty of my surroundings as I should be, but even I had to stop the important work of tackling up to admire the beauty of the the sunrise.
We both baited up with various combo's of the baits, and we had and we both had fish on the first cast I had a tiny dab and paul a flounder around 3/4 of a pound. With them putting the old blankety blank to bed, we got on with the task of catching a few more. A successions of flounders followed to or three each over the next hour.
Just after twenty past nine I heard Paul shout out for help He had a decent fish that he was handling without problems, but his other rod and box were in danger of being washed away in one of the many tidal surges. After rescuing his gear I turned to see him sliding a fine conditioned bass up the beach, which we guestimated to be around 3 lb.
Another Flounder around a pound and a quarter for Paul, was followed by a real supprise for me a Turbot on razor? only a tiddler but a suprise never the less. Paul continued with another good conditioned 1 1/4 lb flounder. My turn now I returned to my rods after a little chat with Paul to see my Foosa bouncing around in the stand, I leaned into the rod and it set into a healthy bend. When the fish started skirting across the waves against the wind I knew it was a bass. The fish again was in great condition, another guestmate of three pounds, a quick grip and grin and sent her back to hopefully make a few more bass in the future.
The fish doesn't look that big in the photo but thats the problem with having big hands

Things slowed up a bit and the wind started really huffing and puffing, Paul who had his tripod upended twice was lookink a little piddled off. So we decided dissgression was the better part of valour and packed up an hour earlier than planned, Paul had one more flounder and I brought in two more whilst packing up the two rods.
A beautifull sunrise, a sunny dry session, a few fish, a few different Species, what more could a pair of anglers want .
Get out there gents enjoy the great out doors, and catching a few fish is a nice little bonus.
Punch to the skies and dream
