Popped along to branscome last night to use up some worm from Friday main targets were scad and gurnard for me Species hunt on arrival there were about 8 anglers in my chosen spot so went to walk up past em stopped and had a chat they’re come up from Plymouth and not had a bite all day but were calling it a day they gave me a load of softie crab ? so fair play to them i wasn’t worried as theyed been fishing the ebb and 4 hrs up is far better here any hoo nothing for an hr then a lad I know from me club rocked up must have been my lucky charm as I snagged a Mac on me pop up straight away then 5 mins later another one ? nothing for some time my mate landed a small Huss then I noticed another guy further up lure fishing had a decent bend in his rod good bass no full string of macs so I resorted to feathering ??Sorry to admit that but managed 9 then got bored and gave the feathers to the other lad and concentrated on the ledger baits .
A decent knock on my loop rig resulted in a small se ray one for the hunt ?? .
Then sent out the crab baits looking for hounds but none showing at dusk I flicked out a belly section of Mac on my mullet rod searching for scad and was quickly rewarded with a 11 oz butey then followed up with a smaller one which went out as live bait on a slider as high tide arrived and darkness fell I noticed my mate into a good fish I ran up and helped him land a 7 lb 11 oz lump of a bass great fish and I was chuffed for him as he’d been struggling to catch anything lately arfte a few pics I went to cheak my rods nowt happening on the crab so smashed out half a fillet of fresh Mac on a up an over ledger I changed the live bait over for a fillet of Mac then sat watching my distance rod getting strappy bites annoyed I lifted into it to feel some decent weight hmm not so strappy as I bought it in I felt good head shakes decent conger but no a pb Huss appeared of them gloom lightly hooked on me semi circle hook I was made up Bizarrely it weighed Exactly the same is the bass 7 lb 11 oz mad hey ??
Pics were tsken and we called it a night . Cracking little session couple of nice Species for the hunt a load of fresh bait and a new pb happy days .
