Hi Guys,

I currently have a 525 mag2 and a couple of abu 6500s.
A long service award of £200 is available to me and thought a new reel would be nice.
Any advice on which to choose, mainly north wales beaches and rocks.
I had zoned in on a penn fathom 15 or casting special, any others worth a look.

Cheers

Gareth

Welcome to TSF Gareth👍 Not keen on the casting special myself, prefer the SD with a few tweeks, but the Fathoms generally are good reels for the money. Not the most up-to-date on other offerings but I'm sure others will chip in with their experiences

Fathom 15s are good reels.
Treat yourself to a good condition 2nd hand MK1 version as they are better than the newer ones 👍

I hear the fathom 15s are well liked- I have the casting specials and find them brilliant for my mixed ground fishing and can often find a bargain on them second hand. Spooled with 20lb they hold enough line if you were to snag up then there should be enough left to continue the session.

If your fishing heavier ground the daiwa slosh (20/30) are incredible value for money.

Welcome to the Madhouse @paddyeds ! 👍👍

No good asking me about multipliers, don't use 'em.

mk1 fathom 15s all day long, ideally magged
have a hunt around for 2nd hand mint condition, there is still a few out there
bulletproof in my opinion, but thats just me
