Lures.

Just had the last hour of flood chucking lures at Porth Ysgo .
I am a bait fisherman, but occasionally like to chuck bits of rubber and plastic . I must admit I get bored after an hour or two casting and winding in, but at least its fishing !
I have fished lures here before and had schoolies on surface poppers .
Conditions were warm and calm today.
After thrashing the water to a fine foam. I had a strike at a surface popper, fished over rough ground, did not connect ☹️.
The fish left a big “boil” on the surface as it struck at the lure .
I tried another rubbery type lure fished deeper and had something strike at it and nip the rubber lures tail, and that was it .
As the afternoon swimmers arrived I beggared off .
These are the lures I took with me ..
Any comments re the selection welcome image.jpg

I have a few more lures as well that may get used if anybody has any better ideas .,image.jpg

I will be bait fishing into darkness as the week goes on , hoping that there is a bit more movement in the water. I have had Bass to about 5 lb here on bait so a lure caught decent size fish is on my to do list .

All comments re lure choice welcome, as a bit of a chuck and chancer I need all the help I can get .

I usually fish Sandeel and Launce for bass under a float or rolled .

I am ok at that but lures 😆 are my nemesis .

Personally I'd be looking for a more natural coloured lure in daylight. Brown/blue/dark backs with light bellies. Mackerel patterns come into their own this time of year. That jointed mackerel style one looks worth a few casts. Always easier at night
Any reason for the swivels?

The swivels were aleady on some of the lures when I got them, they came as a bundle from mate who had retired. Better without ?

I taken to using swivels with metals, especially the SG Seekers. I didn't realise how much they rotate on the drop, and after a couple of hours of casting last year, I ended up with a massive amount of line twist and a tangle on the reel spool.

"The Seeker lure is designed for ultra distance casting, even in windy conditions. The blade design allows the lure to swim very lively and erratically with the most incredible 360-degree rotation on the slightest spin-stop – creating an incredible flash in the water."

Some people use the non slip lure knot
This allows the lure to move more life like
The only downside is you can not change lures
I use a clip as I see no difference and you can chop and change
The only time I don't use clips is trout fishing with little hp's

You can get mini clips for fly fishing, easy to change flies etc.

I think the westin fr 360 is better than the seekers
I keep meaning to try one of them. I think there's one saved in my eBay favourites.

Too small and fiddly for me. I can tie them on easier especially in low light
You are supposed to fit them on the fly before you set off. simples
