Just a heads up...

I got a 2000 size reel there yesterday. Comes with a spare spool. I checked it carefully at home, and it's really surprisingly good. No cheap manufacturing evidence even though it was £12.99. it is for back up lure/ lrf fishing. And operates really smoothly, the bale arm is nice and smooth, not clunky and I can't find any fault with it. It's cheap enough to bin if it plays up so what's not to like
I couldn't resist this little (dual spool) reel either: it does, indeed, feel very smooth and with an overall quality feel (& look) above its very cheapo price.

I prefer a tripod with pots at the bottom of one leg to keep rod ends out of sand.
But that tripod would be great for hard surface.
I just shove the butts into the sand or shingle. Rubber butt caps are cheap to replace.

Shingle no prob', but thinkin to deploy/try the picnic plates (as mentioned previously) on sand to see how that helps for fewer clingy sand grains.

I hate to say it, but fishy Devonians might be proving savvier than their Kernow neighbours; still quite a bit of stuff available on the shelves this side of the river.
Picked up a leaflet from Lidl yesterday. There are a few foodie things that caught my eye, so might go to a bigger local store tomorrow.
They were doing some delicious Cornish Sardines in a mediterranean sauce thing some months ago - they're back this week. 😋😋
Think we've got at least 6 Lidl stores here within the city now. The newer they are, the bigger they get! Same with Aldi.
