Today is supposed to be reasonable, so I thought a first decent beach session is due, spent yesterday sorting tackle & have now got it assembled in the garage & I'm looking at this mountain of kit thinking "seriously" just for a few hours on the beach ? but with the possible exception of the shelter it is all fairly essential.
Glad I bought that trolley.

My mate and I constantly have a discussion about how much gear we take compared to how much we actually use! We have even kept a mental note during a session of what we really use, but it doesn’t seem to matter as we still take exactly the same amount next time we go!
We have even gone down the weigh it all route to compare. It’s frightening but we still do it!

If I can't carry it comfortably I won't be taking it and I can do a 24 hour session easily with what I carry. Only time I've struggled this year was going up the gravel bank at Chesil masonic carpark but I still did it in one hit and I'm sixty six years old.

Me too! that's a bugger going up there..... same as Cogden hill it makes you feel good if you do it in a single hit!

I've somehow managed to wangle keeping my fishing box in the lounge - it just fits under a side table and saves me lugging it upstairs.
The downside of this is that If I buy a new bit of fishing gear, it gets chucked in the box out of the way. Overdue for a sort out methinks when I've got a day home alone!

Tbh when my box got filled with sand and water last week and I emptied it to dry, there wasn’t a great deal.

Albeit that’s surf beach fishing and very mobile so there’s not a huge amount I’d need.

Somewhat different to long static stints at somewhere like Chesil but then I don’t do 24 hour sessions, I fish until I’ve had enough then go home.

I recall one night around midnight loading the car up at Bexi and having a smoke before heading home, I watched two blokes turn up then it took about four trips between them to log all their shit from the car down to the bit of shingle in front of the car park.
God knows what that had or thought they needed, it mostly seemed to be black bin bags.
I would assume very much noddy hour but wasn’t my problem.

It was the cut up bodies in the bin bags that they throw into the sea once it's properly dark! :ROFLMAO:

I don't take hods of stuff though,
2-rods, 2-reels, rest, shelter, tub of leads, bait.
box - which contains a fish measure, cutting board & sponge on a string, knife, scissors, pliers, disgorger, 2-rig wallets, spare spools of main line, shock leaders, & hook lengths & a box of bits like bait elastic, tip lights, thumb rubbers, rattle beads, sharpening stone, tape & a lighter.

I take a Box loaded on to a tronixpro trolly. Also a rod bag with two rods and 5ft tripod.I tie a beach shelter to the trolly handle.I also take the the usual grub etc.I am 68 years old can can manage ok providing I stop for breather every so often.

Minimalist kit for me because I like simplicity and "good weather" so: tripod, rods, reels, tackle box, bait, towel, and mischievous dog.
