Common Skate.

That would be Lochaline where there is a big concentration. Not really a Loch (well Lochaline is, just an offshoot of the sound small and shallow) The main catching area was in the Sound of Mull just outside Lochaline. To be honest find anywhere up here with sandy or muddy bottom and 30 mtrs plus to 200mtrs and you`ve got commons. They will come in close at night and some big barndoors have been taken from the shore off Harris in the western Isles, 150-200lb on beach casters.
Mark Williams has done a few videos of his trips up to Oban to fish for them from Shore & Boat.

Caught a few targeting them but I doubt I'd be interested again. I feel the same about shark fishing. Good to tick them of the list and move on to more interesting fishing that's not just deadlifting
