South West Cogden- nets

That must be the most hated boat in the area. You can imagine how much of a w anchor he is. The biggest thing is he is on this forum. Im sure i spoke with him on sm a couple of years back. It wasnt a great conversation if i can remember, i was going to go over and pick his gear up and drive it round in circles until it was unusable!

Its not nice to sabotage but it would be really easy to end his season

The boat is a actually operating illegally! Not because of his fishing methods or where hes fishing but because he hasnt turned on his vms or ais since sept 2021.

All it takes is a phone call

Make the call fishy.

no mate if you look close you will see the mono net being dropped out the back; but they do it every year for a few weeks then move on.
It’s a shame a few enterprising local boat owners don’t get rid of a few concrete posts on top of the bloody things 😗😗😗

I know, then it would create ghost gear but it’s a nice thought…

@Reevsey back to original post Seaton has been chucking up few plaice dogs macs and rays mate this time of year it’s been ok don’t go expecting to bag up but if you want a nice easy sesh worth a punt buddy always chance of an early hound aswell bey

Use to be a decent mark had some nice bass se thorn back undulate rays along with lots of differt species but few years ago it went to shit recon to many gill nets in the bay but it hasn’t been great for a few years now but showing signs it’s improving so might give it a go sometime 👍

Used to be my go to smouthound beach . Not so much size but quantity . Average 4 to 6 lb but did have one double figure years ago .

Hi all. Just to follow this up it looks like the mmo are now looking into the frustrations we have been having with the inshore sole netting and demersal fishing all the way around lyme bay.

Our arguments are valid and we have a bigger clout than originally thought. When we brought the loss to tackle stores and reduced economic factors into play for a couple of boxes of sole, it was agreed that the angling areas of chesil and the whole of lyme bay for that matter need more protection.

So here is the ball at the top of the slide

Please could you give this a read and please fill the form in. I really think we can move mountains here and the benefits of being recognised and the angling opportunities in years to come can only get better.

Many thanks all

Someone posted the link on a Facebook page which I filled in. Must admit one of my reasons was the potential economic loss to the area if the beach fisherman/ woman/person was to stop coming down and as you say, all for a few boxes of sole.🤞 some positive news comes of this.

I have five email addresses..... all done
How long and how much do you think an engine rebuild would cost him @fishybuisness because he works that boat so hard inshore between freshwater and bexi I think its gotta wear out soon.

@Reevsey
@Tatunka joe I am going down East at the moment if you want to do it next weekend is prime..... long sesh late next Saturday..... late late
In fact the more the merrier.

but if you do nothing..... nothing can happen
Def bud be nice to see them give it a few years free from pressure to see how it improves the bio diversity along Chesil.
I’m sure most anglers wouldn’t mind an increase in the size limits(for those who actually use them).
