After running around to get bait on Saturday, I managed to get out for a few hours over high water last night. Bait was scarce and after driving over 100 miles just to collect 1/2lb of very small rag, I was going to make the most out of every worm! Chosen venue was a quiet mark near Steart marshes that can produce some nice fish on big tides. Fishing wasn't exactly hectic, but the arrival of masses of 4 inch pin whiting meant the bait was only lasting around 10 minutes. Then just into the ebb, a minute after re baiting the rod tip slammed down and after a really good tussle a perfectly finned bass of around 3.8 to around 4lb was at my feet. Lightly hooked so quickly released to swim another day. After that it was back to the pins again, shortly after the worm ran out. An enjoyable few hours out.
