Brighton Pollacks and a Brill day

I met a mate at the marina about 7.30 this morning and we were soon heading out to the Gull and then the Ouse. First two drifts saw a Pollack each come aboard and then nothing more so went to the other one where as soon as my rhubarb and custard lure hit the bottom just uptide of the wreck it felt like it had been hit by a good Pollack. It fought all the way up and imagine my surprise when I saw a good Brill attached! I have never caught any kind of flattie on a lure, never mind a Brill, although I am sure Robin will tell me that it is nothing unusual? A couple more pollack were caught there and then we tried a few more wrecks nearby ending up with 5 Pollack in total. Despite the cold breeze it was lovely and calm out there, but the Eberspacher took care of the chilly fingers between drifts. Good to be out and blow a few cobwebs off of both me and the boat. Hopefully the next couple of months will see a few more bigger Pollack around. It looks like Fisheries patrol are keeping a close watch on the 12 mile line too
