South East Beaten again, Pett Level 20/8/21

Unfortunately my boys live in Wales with their mother, so fishing is limited to holidays with daddy. Gives me a chance to catch a few though!
Oh yes, I forgot that as you’ve mentioned it before.
Yep, get yourself down there after dark and try and redeem your fishing honour!

The mark produces really well when low tide coincides with an hour before dawn, but trying to convince the boy to get up at 4am is like trying to force your granny upstairs to bed against her will… stubborn doesn’t quite cover it! ??
That's when Sand eels come out to play so fish hone in on them also last hour before dark sand eels go to bury themselves for night.
Try a plain lead on one rod cast out then if not moving flick back a bit from time to time

The eels I find when bait digging are very small, only 1-2” at most, I guess they are the less worldly wise ones that get exposed too easily. I’m sure bigger ones must be about further out, I just haven’t seen them. It’s a rarity for me really, I’ve fished the beaches around Hastings and Bexhill since childhood, this is the first mark that I’ve found a sand eel population. When the boy goes back to mums, I’m gonna have to grab a pack of sand eels and have a crack.

Heaven forbid I try them while the boy is with me, he will no doubt have a whacking bass while I catch sod all!

I’d give it a go after dark when the tide is right as well?
