    If I can't carry it comfortably I won't be taking it and I can do a 24 hour session easily with what I carry. Only time I've struggled this year was going up the gravel bank at Chesil masonic carpark but I still did it in one hit and I'm sixty six years old.

    Shock leader question

    Maybe not with relatively soft through action rods but many carpers fishing at range now with distance rods do use shock leaders. Fifteen pound line can easily be snapped off with 3.75tc and 3.5oz lead.

    Century Graphex Ultralite or Zulcron Bass?

    Not seen the zulcron but have cast the century and wouldn't pay the new price when the Akios airlite 355 is a third of the price and is a very nice to use and very nicely built.

    The most powerful three piece I'm aware of in UK is the Akios AIRPOWER 435 SRS Black Edition Continental Rod 4.3m 14.5ft but even this is only rated to 225 grams and as has been said these continental style rods aren't really aimed at the pendulum caster.

    Answered Multi' reel spool tension adjust

    Tension on the spool will slow it on the cast and reduce distance but is advisable for a novice or new multi caster. Slight side play allows the spool to run freely and spin faster increasing distance potential but will over run a lot more easily.
