Prawns as bait

Advice needed when I'm using prawns for bait ,do I put them on head first so the head is up by the hook eye or vice versa,any answers would be helpful.

Hook them thro the tail with hook coming out before there body . If using 2 prawns hook them back to back .

I've used Raw Black Tiger Prawns for Smoothounds.Quite effective and large raw King Prawns 2 at a time if needed.

I use a trap, if the mark allows it. Don’t bother with nets

They’re useful traps. I use them more for catching hardback crab for wrasse baits.
Got an estuary mark where I can fill one in 20-30 minutes lol.

Also if you’re inclined, you can have one out while you fish and see what you can pick up.

As far as prawns go, I’d check it every 20 minutes or so otherwise fish tend to get in and eat them all.
I’ve caught some VERY fat and smug rockling but no prawns if left too long ?

You’ve only got to put some bait in it and chuck it over the side lol
