Its nasty aint it! That was just the first bit, not even the leader knot mega lump!
Fished Milford on Sea. The idea was a learning, to fish the tide all the way up targetting rays and whatever else came up. Good place for a spotty, but they have been evading me (and still are). The wind was in the face and stronger than forecast and there was more movement in the water than I expected. Happy with those conditions.
Set up 2 rods with sandeel and squid, and worm and squid. I could see a weather front coming over so put up my trusty brolly that seems to survive much more than it should. Rods sent out only to whip found to the East as is usual with the tide rip there. The first retrieval was so heavy it tweaked my back! The other rod was the same, so tried fishing short and cast one toward the back of a groyne on the West. It held nicely and I was rewarded with a little small eye. Not what I was after, and no size, but at least showed me there were fish about.

Changed one rod to smaller hooks with rag tipped with squid which soon produced a sole.

The weed started to ease, so I was able to increase my distance. The evening continued with alternative catches on each rod of small eyes and sole totalling 5 small eyes and 4 sole. Busy enough night, but the spotties still elude me. As the tide started to peak, the weed increased, so time for home. Small issue was that both 3 piece rods (new to me Blackrocks) butt sections were stuck, so good job I was in the van! Need to get them apart, lap them together a bit and graphite (pencil) them.
Good luck if you are out.
