After a decent session at widewater last week I decided to go back there Friday night to fish the Saturday morning high around 03-30. Drove down late to avoid the mad rush and arrived around 11-30pm. Was hoping to get back in the same section of beach but already anglers in there so went in the next groin along. Was a lot slower than last week. I ended up doing 3 up and 3 down and ended with 2 straps and a handful of bream to 27cm.20210828_060753.jpg

Sun rising over Brighton.

From there I drove to aldwick to scout the beach at low tide, a visit to the cafe and then a scout around at selsey to get an idea on the less weedy sections of beach for future sessions.

I then decided to go to hayling island, not fished here for a while but can fish there at all states of the tide so thought I'd try it.
Arrived 3hrs before the afternoon high which was 4-30 and set up by 2pm after getting some fresh bait and ragworm. First cast and a double shot of micro bream in the scratching rod. For the next hour it was a fish a cast with bites coming as soon as the bait hit the bottom, I couldn't keep both rods in the water. It then slowed right down and the rest of the session was a lot slower with the bites taking a good 15-20 mins to come after casting out. As the sun was setting I was really starting to struggle as I'd not slept so decided to fish to low (9-15pm ish) and call it a day. I ended up with 2 schoolie bass, 1 silver eel, 2 smut pups , 1 mackerel (took ragworm on the drop) and lost count of the number of bream which were up to 26cm. A busy session so more than happy with that.
