Another early session this morning.
I had a gut feeling that the east beach at Dungeness would produce a bass so, armed with a few fresh worms, that is where I headed.
I cast out just as the flooding tide hit the shingle and immediately has a bite, fish on!
Halfway in, all went light, the fish was off!
A slime covered trace told the tale. An eel was the culprit.
Second cast and I missed a good bite. Third cast saw an angry snot serpent landed!
Two more missed bites followed then nothing till I packed up.
In the back of my mind I knew I should have gone round to galloways beach. With the wind on shore there, and little surf running I may well have done better.
Oh well, always next time.

Apologies for the poor photo, the eel was camera shy!

What's the old saying!!!! If at first you don't succeed, try try again. It will happen when you least expect it.

Ian.

Insult to injury,
A mate went fishing the evening of this report. Same stretch of beach.
Bass a cast!

I’m having a similar experience with lure fishing. Every time my mates leave their front door they get about a dozen each. Me, zilch.
