Headed down for an all nighter back end of November. We'd had a bit of a blow the day before so I was quite optimistic for the night.
Met a chap on the beach who had been fishing the beach for over 30 years (not in one stint) ;) so we shared some useful info between us before I headed to my chosen spot.
My plan was to fish livebaits all night so I initially set up 2 scratchers to wangle out some pout.
Didn't take me too long to find some and as darkness set in, I sat back in my shelter with 2 lively pout in the surf on livebait sliders.
I kept one scratcher out for a while into the night and managed to snag a small cod at about 15 yards out which was a nice surprise.
I was picking up a few small bits and pieces but it was at 9pm ish I had a decent run on one of my livebaits. I pulled in the slack and eventually caught up with a fish that stayed deep as I pulled it through the surf. To my surprise, a nice undulate was on the end with half a pout sticking out of its gob.
The night continued and at around 2am I decided to hit the sack.
You often pick up bass on the ebb here so I left a couple of pout out with my ratchets loosened.
Just as I had cocooned myself in my sleeping bag, I had a massive run on one of my rods. Anyone would have thought it was a tope. I eventually got out of my sleeping bag but by this time the fish was long gone.
Back in my sleeping bag and it was around 5am I was woken again to another run. This time a small bass was on the end, after going for a pout about half its size!

Excuse the poor pics, I've lost my camera charger!

Have a good Crimbo everyone.

We will be heading down again on the 27th or 28th if anyone is up for it!

Well done Dave, cracking undulate!

The moral of the story is, don’t go to bed, lol

Cheers lads! Hope you all have a good one and get lots of fishing in

Cod, undulate and Bass all in one session thats epic fishing, looking over your right shoulder in that cod pic it looks busy down there.
That walk is a killer.......

Oh ye, that's weird, must be Portland or cruise ships, as the 4 of us kept our head torches off most of the night. Someone was telling me today that you had a big cod, nice one mate

Good effort there mate but I have a slight concern for your wellbeing......... Sleeping in shelters and leaving rigs out with slackened drags and ratchets on is probably a precursor to carp fishing ?

It’s a slippery slope, for sure…
