Weather window with a hedged bet in the wind (by way of shelter) meant a day on Boscombe Pier with Haddock. The species list of what can be caught there is enormous, but it has been sterile in comparison with the beach stretch.
Tried all the "hot spots " directions and distances and baits and the end result was this.
Pleasant enough day though, in the sun and out of the wind chewing the fat. Haddock had bragging rights with a hand spread sized turbot.
New fishing suit (with added base layers) has had a few outings in minus temps and for £60 from Go Outdoors certainly does the job.
My old blue suit gave me a problem. I had a bite and walked closer to the surf line holding the rod high. It did not develop so l lowered the rod and turned to walk back up the shingle, only to find that the end of the rod had gone down the leg through a seam. I quickly found that if you can't bend your knee you cant walk! Just about saved myself from kissing the beach!
Hopefully more fish to report next session.
Good luck all.
