Met up with Rockmarks on the pier yesterday, started just past 9 in the morning, flung a metal lure around to start with for a Mackerel or Gar, that was short lived as after a few casts the lure went out and kept going with no line attached, dunno what happened there!!.
So popped on a dropshot and started hitting the Wrasse population, had several out, plus a few Pouting by the time Martyn turned up, a quick chat then we started in earnest.
We had fish from both sides of the pier but most was from the inside, all the normal suspects came out, Corkwing, Ballan, Tompot, Pouting, small Pollock, Goldsinny and Martyn had the only Goby which was a rock one, I had over 80 fish with Martyn close behind on that, with over 50% being Corkwings of various sizes, was hard work getting past them.
A very busy session with fish a drop for a good period of it, there was a stiffish breeze that masked the power of the sun so we both end up getting burnt a bit, but despite the burning was a really nice day hauling fish in, I was getting tired by 4ish so called it a day and left Martyn there to keep pulling more fish out.
Nothing big came up or anything for my hunt, but was good just getting bite after bite, which makes a change.

Nice session bud ?

You won't believe this, but I was there yesterday on pleasure pier!

I did move to stone pier later on and also put a brand new metal on and lost 2nd cast ?... Must have caught on a wind knot ?.... Only bought a few hours before..... Lovely looking thing and cost me £8 think it was ???

I may have met your mate as he packed up?... He said his buddy left earlier and had more fish.

It was the same for me, but with loads of goldsinny, and plenty of black gobbies and Tompots.... Loads of pollack and pout.

I'll have to come down your way for a meet up some time ?

Haha thats a coincidence, I saw a few guys fishing the pleasure pier too. Blimey 9 quid!!, I would have cried, at least mine was only £1.50 from Trago :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: .
Yeah be good to have a session down this way, could try and talk Tat in to taking the light stuff up and joining us:unsure::unsure:

Great report Bob. One of my favourite venues. There are sometimes black bream right off the end which will happily take dropshot lures cast out 10 yds or so on the drop. You probably know this!

Also, if you walk back towards the cafè, and just a tad further to where the fence around the boat hut (i think) is, there's one or 2 large swingtop bins. There are sand gobies there quite often if you flick small lures out 10-15 yds, also black and rock gobies and a chance of a leopard spot (heard of them there but they have evaded me so far).

Ive seen a 2 spotted goby in a kids fishing net on the stone pier too but any attempts to catch them just results in the usual small pout and pollock.

Happy hunting!
