Remember when I asked where were all the Silver Eels ?

I can tell you now, they are in West Bay Harbour, lots of the bloody things from 8" to about 24".

It was a pleasant evening, a gentle breeze and warm, a few interesting people to share some banter with.

Plenty of spider crabs making a nuisance of themselves, six Pout of various sizes from 5 to 10"and a couple of Conger straps, nothing to add to my species hunt score. I was hoping for a Dogfish or Smoothhound as they have been caught there on previous evenings but nothing showed up, perhaps they did later but as I'd left my tea nicely packed in the fridge at home I called it a day at about 10:30pm.

One of the rowing gigs went out into a choppy sea, all the lady crew were wearing masks but there was not a life-jacket between them, it's good to see that risk assessments are carried out before going to sea

All the gig crews carry lifejackets its compulsory at the club.
They are simply conforming to the current regs wearing masks therefore acting within the law and should be applauded not ridiculed.
Whilst you raise the subject of conforming with rules and regulations were you casting out gear with leads on or floatfishing as per the rules on West Bay arm?
People in glass houses and all that.

A life jacket under a seat or wherever is no use in an emergency, if they were thinking that they could grab it if needed they could have put their masks in their pockets, ready for a virus coming by.

As for the weary old 'I'm telling on you oooh look Sir Sir he's flicking a 2 oz lead a few yards from the wall' outrage, leave it out, you know bloody well it's a silly rule ignored by just about everyone.

As for them wearing masks, they were not wearing them when they came back, perhaps they'd realised that was a bloody silly rule too.
