I continued my species hunt at West Bay yesterday evening, it's a good venue for a handful of species in normal times. Not this time, I've seldom seen fishing so poor here, very few bites and not even any crab activity.
Fishing tight to the rocks produced ballan and corkwing wrasse and plenty of shannies but the open ground produced not a thing, not for anyone.
It could be that it got better after dark it's a pleasant enough spot after dark, the moon rising and a flask of hot coffee;
It's best if the flask of hot coffee has been brought with you though and is not next to the kettle at home so I packed up.
One new species added, the Shanny, it's slow going this year.
