Hi all... What a varied session that was last night!
Proceedings kicked off with a whiting just after low water. A short while after and I’m hauling in a male ray of 4lbs 12oz. Then, I get a peculiar bite and after dragging the weight in, I’m met with a dogfish-tiny hound combo on the pennel!
By this time the tide was flooding fast and it was time to go to avoid being cut off but I wasn’t ready to throw in the towel for the night just yet. I knew it was late but I really wanted to carry on a bit, I was still debating whether to or not as my rest went up at a different spot and my reels were being screwed down!!
First cast here and I had a doggie. Then one of my rods really slammed down, hound undoubtedly. My whole crab bait was bitten clean in half!
Next I had my second double hook up of the night, this time the hound was a better size at 3lbs 8oz but it was paired up with a reasonable size eel!!
With the sky threatening to turn light again anytime soon, I started to think about packing up but not before I had a proper bite... fish on!
I’d forgotten how much I missed fighting hounds, and this one was no pup!! It kited left and right and made a right commotion on the surface at the edge.
Landed safely, I was over the moon when she pulled the scales down to 8lbs exactly. My first proper one of the year!!
Exhausted and with a busy day ahead, I reluctantly called it a night. ...think I could’ve had more!!
