This unfortunate 1.5lb whiting fell foul of a big eel before I could retrieve it. At first I thought I'd snagged, then there was a heavy weight and a big wrench before I wound in what was left of my catch. Shame the big eel didn't attack the other end with two hooks in! I landed two strap conger and one about 10lb as well as many whiting - most returned.
An interesting and busy day on the Tamar, but I still wonder how big that conger was! PH

Good day and whiting in Feb shows it has been a good season, well done.
I remember in some previous years the whiting were gone from the Tamar after Christmas but they seem to be hanging on this year. They are getting very roed up so will probably be out at sea spawning soon.
Conger are feeding every trip but were out in the deepest water today. They seem to feed best when the ebb is running hardest, which makes for some interesting scraps! PH

Great report and pictures well done getting out and catching.
