Up nice and early to to hit the mill pond in the hope of a Mullet or two. Was misty when I arrived but that soon burnt of for a lovely sunny start to the day.
I had one rod out with bread under a float for the thickies and my Lrf rod with a spinner for the thinnies and a cheeky third on the bottom for a silver Eel.
The Eel rod only got touched by a crab, the float rod just bobbed under twice and after having one Mullet follow the spinner in I managed to land a 1.13lb Thin lipped,
After him I had a couple small tugs and hooked a very small Bass, was a very quiet session when usually your plagued with loads a small Bass.
Then this afternoon I headed Torquay way, after a few Wrasse. it started off well with a Goldsinny on the first drop, then a Tompot followed by a Ballan, a move towards one end of the pier gave me a Shanny. Then a walk to the other end produced loads of Corkwings and Ballans, plus a couple more Tompots.
Couldn't find any thing different, so I climbed my ladder and had a go on the inside of the harbour, a few testy bites turned into a small Tompot, but the next drop was walloped good and proper I thought it was going to be Wrasse the way it went, but to my surprise it was big fat goby. At first I thought it was Giant Goby but after consulting my ID books its a very large Black goby.
A nice quick couple hours fishing, ending up with 25 fish and a few species for the hunt.
