Set out to catch a Bull Huss, but anything would be a bonus especially this time of year. After a long walk I set up in a small beach area between two reefs two hours after low water. I had a look at this spot a few days ago because it gets cut off by the tide and I wanted to make sure I wouldn't have to climb up the cliffs behind, around high water!
Nothing happened until it started to get dark when I started to get bites on my flapper rig resulting in a small bull huss
This was soon followed up by a couple more, all on the same rig and frozen black tipped with squid. At this point the other rig, a pulley kennel with large mackerel fillet remained untouched. Biggest about 3 1/2lbs
A hectic couple of hours followed to both rods with mainly dogfish with a couple of small Huss.
High tide produced a string of pouting to the flapper and sandeel
I managed to stay off the cliff face by about six feet but had to wait a couple more hours for the tide to drop to let me out. The last couple of hours was slow with just the one dogfish.
