I thought I'd try fishing West Bay Harbour thinking the whiting hordes might have moved on.

I was wrong, to use a word meaning a great multitude that I picked up from friends in the Chatham area, there were 'kinfahzins' of them.

Any bait of any size dropped anywhere would get a 6" whiting, or occasionally a small pout, I gave up after a couple of hours

One was so keen to be caught he'd tied the line around his waist.

Nice try Cap'n! Lots of folk reporting there are decent Whiting about, but not even seen a diddy one down here yet - just endless tiny Pout.

Pin rats are enough to make any one give up!

Why do all my whiting swallow the hook I'm using 2/0s do I need to go bigger or are circle hooks vetter

Well done getting out and giving it a go (y)
