The plan was to fish with fishing friends @Nottah747 and @DJDBazzer. Target flounder. Location Shore Road Hythe.
We arrived far too early. The water was a fair way out, which means making your way down off the sedge and onto the mud/stone beach. It is soft underfoot and combined with the cold wind was not comfortable at all. The tide did not move much for some time, but once the second tide kick came on, we were quickly retreating and soon on the sedge, where it is much more civilised!
Slow going and after chatting with Bazzer I was thinking that the conditions were more suited to bass. At that I checked my rods and the left one was was moving much more than it had been with the wind. Wound down lifted and fish orrn! It is a shallow venue and the fish was being quite spirited. It stayed deep as it could, so I did not see what it was in the chocolate water until I lifted it up over the sedge mud bank.
Had a few nice bass lately. Its as if they know we can't take them! Took it to show the boys and back it went.
Next in was a bass for Nottah.
A few anglers had turned up and had not caught, when we checked with them, when we left.
Again Bazzer was with me and was just walking back to his rods when I noticed action on one of mine. I can feel the fish is smaller, but still spirited. Lifted over the bank and target achieved. Only small, but the target species all the same.
Bazzerr had a bass before he left, (thats him above being enigmatic!) and Nottah had another one as did I before packing up.
Great to fish with the boys again, no blanks, target fish achieved.
It was nice to get home for a hot shower and a mug of tea. Sitting there with a red, wind burnt face, enjoying the warm and quiet ,whilst plotting the next outing!
Good luck if you are out over Christmas people.
