Took the boy down to the local mark for another crack after his blank the other night, thought to pump some lug while there, but the beds were raped by several professional diggers, so slim pickings this evening. Still got enough to whack out a couple of 2 hook clipped down rigs each. I lost an eel first cast, but then a sand bank appeared in the dropping tide necessitating a quick move. On the recast, I reeled in a very angry crab much to my boys delight and he reeled in a razor fish! Next cast produced nothing, but the last cast produced a ball of weed for me and an eel for the boy, so I blanked and he didn’t! Very happy he was too!

That he did, as we walked off the beach, using our phone lights as I’d forgotten head torches, covered in sand and eel slime, he looked at me and said “I am very happy I caught that eel, the bass will just have to wait another day!” But it won’t be today, as we overslept and missed the morning low tide! ?

Hmmm… I think it’s time I tie him up some “special rigs” half a lugworm on a 5/0 hook, that should slow the bugger down… ??
