I use a 4 turn water knot of slightly lighter line (just as you might use on a team of flies) to create a 'dropper'. That way if the fly will break off if snagged, leaving the main lure still attached on the 'point'. Others use a connection like a swivel/clip to tie on a short dropper for the teaser fly. The water knot is less bulky, has no real weight and is more subtle imo.
