I have used a variety of swivels, rolling type mostly, from size 1, 2, 3, 4 and down to 6 and 8. Just wondered if I should use size 6 or 8 for snoods. And, should I use a branded swivel, Koike etc or just unbranded. I have used the latter with no issues at all.

Hi David, I’ve always bought Veals beach and boat crane swivels, both a decent size for what they do, never had one break.

However... at the moment they don’t seem to have any beach in stock...

You want to get the power swivels from gerrys, veals or ebay, there very strong and cheap
Yep they’re good too!

I went with the VMO crane ones as they were a good price once, but I have to say the prices have crept up quite a bit...

A couple of years ago I found the same power swivels that JJ posted up, they're great and surprisingly small for their breaking strain. I think I use the size 5 and 8 myself.

One small word of warning! If you are buying swivels off eBay then just check who the seller is as there are a lot of fakes being imported from China and they can be very unreliable.

Agreed. Personally I’d rather buy from Veals or Gerrys or an established outlet over here.

I’ve seen some of the ‘200 hooks for £3’ offers on eBay (that others have bought) and the quality is shocking in comparison.

I’d rather pay a few quid more and be connected to the fish by decent components...

An issue that I have had, especially with Swivels, is the physical size seems to vary with no relation to the size number. I try and buy from sources where the swivel measurements are clear, along with the breaking strain. Heavier swivels for rig bodies, lighter for snoods.
